PCE

It's one of the key points we were proposing during the ICE workshop within our work group... We must allow the user to use her own combination - cocktail - of tools for accesing the "collaborative" platforms and services we will be providing them within and/or outside the corporate borders.

In order to do that, I'm pretty convinced that what we need is to use the tools and de-facto standards we currently have in place for 'empowering' the user in her own strategy for building up her own personal collaborative environment (pce).

Complexity

In order to systematically develop and connect the elements realized in the workshop, we need some theoretical approach for managing the inner complexity of the techno-social systems we are dealing with. It does exist an approach that was introduced by the working group for "Decentralised research and innovation". The model, developed by an Spanish researcher many years ago, is labelled as "OITP model"

Hi...

New survey demonstrates that collaboration is a key driver of business performance

A recent survey by Frost & Sullivan highlights the importance of collaboration as a key driver of business performance. The survey concludes that 36% of a company's performance is due to its Collaboration Index, more than twice the impact of a company's strategic orientation (16%) and more than five times the impact of market and technological turbulence influences (7%). This is a key finding because it empirically demonstrates that increased high-quality collaboration can improve business performance.

Education goes online

Educators are already rethinking curriculum and pedagogy in light of the World Wide Web. Beyond the traditional three R's, students will be expected to excel in the three C's:

* communication,
* collaboration, and
* creative problem-solving

They have to locate and process real-world information, exhibit technological fluency, and, most importantly, to develop the aptitude and attitude of a lifelong learner.

Good Morning Europe

Good morning Europe!

What kind of cooperation do we need in the union to engage the sleeping potentials that we have? We have about 20 million unemployed in Europe today. Big junks of workplaces will still be dispatched to China, India, Brazil and other emerging industrial nations. It’s great that the people, outside the traditional industrial western nations, can get modern factories to their countries instead of having to look for economic prosperity through travel for bread and butter from country to country. But we need to find ways of incorporating those that are now left outside.

Younion@Work

As a result of many many brilliant individual teams the AMI@Work process has forgotten one little thing: 400 million smart individuals.

They all are not just citizens of their home countries but responsible citizens of the European union, too.

The straight way from them (=you and me) to the entire union is not delegating problems and wishes to organizations who delegate them to union-wide organizations who delegate them to different places.

Is CWE related to Lisbonne Objectives and Knowledge Society?

First of all, CWE acronym could be used with the meaning of "Collaborative Working Environments" but then it seems to be limited to the scope of workplace while the meaning of "Collaborative Web Environments" seems to me not limited to the workplace but rather broad enough to cover all the Knowledge Society scope which is directly related to the Lisbon objectives.

CWE as "Collaborative Web Environments" would allow EU citizens to really enter into the Knowledge Society if and only if every EU citizen can be provided with his own eSpace that would be built on "Collaborative Web Environments" principles and would provide networking services with other EU citizens and worldwide potential contacts.

Nordic Collaborators

I’m welcoming Finnish bloggers to be a part in this EU space. We can tell about the Finnish blogosphere and social collaboration developments.

We’d a talk over Skype with Kurt Linderoos, who is a member of this community. Our intention is to write about Social Collaboration, Grassroots Networking, Personal EU, and how to get us Europeans to work and innovate together.

We will discuss the practical problems of using collaborative tools and how to narrow the digital divide. There are lots of passive Internet (Web 1.0) users, but our goal is to get us Finns and other Europeans to do much more cross border collaboration.
