Piero Bucci currently is MANAGEMENT ADVISER, particularly for: scouting of new initiatives and business strategy, Project Management, Enterprise Interoperability, R&D and Innovation, Fund raising, ICT and Auditing. He has been ICT INTERNAL AUDITOR in a European commercial bank (Banca Antonveneta ABN AMRO) in charge for Information Systems and Electronic Payments. Previously, in the same bank, he has been SENIOR OFFICER responsible of digital innovation towards e-finance (e-banking, e/m-payments, smart cards, e-money, e-security) and through the EC programs (5th, 6th FP and IST) participation. In particular, he has been Project Manager of IST-METEORE2000 project (29601) finalised to open micro-payment systems for m/e-contents. Former, he has been R&D MANAGER in a large Italian bank (BNA) and before that researcher and manager (R&D DIRECTOR and CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER (Dirigente) in others 4 Italian ICT and industrial companies (SG2 Italia, S&M, Sarin – Telecom Italia Group- Honeywell).

Actually, he also collaborates, as EXTERNAL EXPERT, with CNR-IASI (Istituto di Analisi dei Sistemi ed Informatica "A. Ruberti") and CeRSI (Centro di Ricerca sui Sistemi Informativi) - Università Luiss "Guido Carli" - where he is R&D Program & Project Manager for the LEKS (Laboratory of Enterprise Knowledge and Systems) in Rome. In such role he is participating, for the project management part, in the INTEROP-NoE (IST-508011) and the INTEROP-VLAB.IT (part of INTEROP-VLAB.EU a permanent European VLab) focalised in the Enterprise and e-Government Interoperability. At regional level he is EVALUATOR for PIEMONTE and EMILIA ROMAGNA Regions within the regional R&D development and innovation programs.

With European Commission (EC) policy he act, from many years, as INDEPENDENT EXPERT (EVALUATOR, EXPERT and REVIEWER) within the IST, ICT and CIP-ICT-PSP (Competitiveness and Innovation, particularly in e-Government) Programs. Within ESPRIT and IST Programs (VFP-VIFP) he has been appointed as REFEREE of the following 10 main projects: 901 "DOOMSDAY"; 2570 "MACS"; 7089 "RECYCLE"; 8156 "AMES"; 9130 "EUROBANQUET"; 9809 "SER; 21579 "SPIDER"; 27940 "VEGA-NT"; IST-1999-11135 "SILK"; IST-2004-0335191 “STOLPAN” (ongoing project - up to 2010 - on m-payments). He has collaborated with EC for the "European Banking Interest Group (BIG)" focused on the IS Evolution within European Banks. He has collaborated with JRC - Institute of Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS) and European Science and Technology Observatory (ESTO) in realising a study on E-Money and E-Payments in 8 European Countries.
